When I first got it, the pistol grip's grip on the ball head was really tight. I've been buys and haven't been able to play with it until today. Is there something I'm missing? Is there another way to increase the pistol grip's grip on the ball head?

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to download a user manual for a manfrotto rc2 tripod head as I just bought a demo model from a calumet store couldn't find box. Many Thanks Derek Murphy. Derek, I doubt very much you will find a downloadable pdf.

The "user manuals" are pretty basic - my RC2 manual consists of ONE foldout A4 page with illustrations and a few short paragraphs of text - but you can certainly try contacting Manfrotto directly to see if they can supply you with replacement instructions.

Michael R Freeman , Jul 27, What's to know? Ask away Is there any special precautions other than commonscence to keep the head in tiptop condition. I have read on one of these forums that the head is not as rigid as when new after considerable use and I was just wondering is there a way to tighten the ball.

Look for a deeply-set chromed hex screw on the flanged area at the base of the handle. That's what adjusts the grip strength on the ballhead. Hopefully you got the correct wrench with the head;otherwise, it's a standard size and shouldn't be hard to find. I've had mine for over a year and love it--a huge improvement over the earlier wonky joystick head. I wouldn't obsess over maintenance.

You could ruin the materials with lubricants. Just keep the parts clean and dry. Thanks for all the help Derek. One small tip: If you want to put the camera on vertical it's possible with no problems. However, if you want to put the camera on vertical and then to tilt it up or down you need to move it to the handle's edge, thus using it like the original This involves unscrewing the two screws which hold the base and then screwing them to the other location.

Inconvenient to say the least. Another option is to buy the RA accessory. It is an additional plate and you attach it permanently to the handle's edge. Thus the move is simple and fast. I bought one and am very happy with it. Happy shooting, Yakim. You must log in or sign up to reply here. Show Ignored Content.
