Bharti's proposed acquisition of African assets of Zain group may not appear to be as attractive a proposition as the previously aborted attempt to merge with MTN. It's a major reshuffle in Zain's top brass as it struggles with governance problems and low margins in some of the African countries. Bharti Airtel on Wednesday said it expects to close soon the deal to acquire Zain Telecom's African business.
