General purpose grade, suitable for use in many engineering applications, case hardening and welding. General purpose engineering, suitable for case hardening and welding. A low carbon, free cutting steel that is highly machinable with consistent properties giving a good surface finish. Unsuitable for welding. Medium tensile strength. Small sizes suitable for induction hardening.
A free cutting version of M40 medium carbon steel, offering improved machinability. A manganese molybdenum steel with good ductile and mechanical strength and the ability to withstand shock loading.
As En16 but more suitable for repetition machining. Welding not recommended. Suitable for higher strength applications where resistance to shock is required. A nickel chrome molybdenum steel with high strength and toughness. Good ductile and tensile strength with good shock and wear resistance properties. A nickel chrome case hardening steel.
