Saksa maalikunstniku Gerhard Richteri s. Richteri sarjast "48 portreed". Gerhard Herzberg an illustrious life in science. Gerhard Herzberg was one of the greatest scientists of the last century. Born and educated in Germany, he started his research just as the exciting discovery of quantum mechanics began unraveling the mysteries of the microscopic world.

Herzberg chose to study spectroscopy, the light emitted and absorbed by atoms and molecules, which has played a central role in the development of modern science. Conflicting evidence regarding the dimensionality of the UWES has led to confusion regarding the interpretation of scores. Research purpose: The main focus of this study was to use the Rasch model to provide insight into the dimensionality of the UWES , and to assess whether work engagement should be interpreted as one single overall English Title: Gerhard Ebeling on faith.

Gerhard Ebeling — , not only the foremost Luther researcher of the previous century but also one of the most prominent contributors to protestant theology during that period, wrote extensively about faith throughout his long and productive life as a professional theologian.

Directory of Open Access Journals Sweden. Therefore, research evidence from psychologists or assessment practitioners on its DIF across different cultural groups is necessary.

Quantitative item data on the UWES scale enabled the authors to address the research question. However, it also raises questions about possible interaction effects that need further investigation. Research purpose: The main focus of this study was to use the Rasch model to provide insight into the dimensionality of the UWES , and to assess whether work engagement should be interpreted as one single overall score, three separate scores, or a combination.

Motivation for the study: It is unclear whether a summative score is more representative of work engagement or whether scores are more meaningful when interpreted for each dimension separately. Previous work relied on confirmatory factor analysis; the potential of item response models has not been tapped.

Research design: A quantitative cross-sectional survey design approach was used. Main findings: Findings indicate that work engagement should be treated as a unidimensional construct: individual scores should be interpreted in a summative manner, giving a single global score. Findings of this study should also contribute towards standardising UWES scores, allowing meaningful comparisons to be made.

Clarity on dimensionality and interpretation of work engagement will assist researchers in future studies. Managers and consultants will be able to make better-informed decisions when using work engagement data. The present study investigated the factorial validity of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale UWES among participants from ten different occupational groups. Confirmatory factor analyses of the total sample, as well as multi-group analyses and analyses of each of the ten occupational groups separately, indicated that a three-dimensional model of both the UWES and the short version, UWES -9, provided a better fit to the data than a one- and two-dimensional model.

The results of multi-group analyses and analyses of each of the groups separately, indicated that with a few exceptions, the three-factor model of work engagement provided the best fit. Results indicated factorial invariance and the internal consistencies were acceptable. Boats in fields. Full Text Available Work engagement is defined as a positive, affective-motivational state of work-related well-being characterized by vigor, dedication and absorption. The sample consisted of employees from a number of organizations and jobs across Serbia. Based on the UWES findings, the data confirm both the three-factor and one-factor solutions by giving a slight advantage to the three-factor solution. Taking into account the UWES -9 reliability and correlation patterns of its subscales with other well-being variables, both one- and three-factor solutions of the UWES -9 are suggested for future research.

Serbian versions of both the UWES and UWES -9 have satisfactory psychometric properties with high reliability, factorial structure in line with the theoretical model, and good predictive validity.

The study contributes to enhanced understanding of work engagement by offering an insight from the Serbian cultural and economic context, significantly different from the UWES originating setting. There is still a need for exploring how employees from Serbia conceptualize work engagement, as well as for further, more stringent investigating of the cultural invariance of the UWES factorial structure.

Leben mit Estland : Paul- Gerhard von Hoerschelmann zum Aastast EELK' aupraost. Work engagement among rescue workers: psychometric properties of the portuguese UWES. Rescue workers have a stressful and risky occupation where being engaged is crucial to face physical and emotional risks in order to help other persons.

This study aims to estimate work engagement levels of rescue workers namely comparing nurses, firefighters, and police officers and to assess the validity evidence related to the internal structure of the Portuguese versions of the UWES and UWES -9, namely, dimensionality, measurement invariance between occupational groups, and reliabilit Full Text Available Theology, through its history, has always been related to Philology, because its source is the Holy Scriptures.

Inserted in the philologic German trend of the history of tradition and history of editing and forms, it is opposed to positivists interpretation and installs a new comprehension of the OT traditions. Its hermeneutica, without deteriorating the historical criticism, gives first hand priority to the message that the scriptural brands patentize as a twist of an organization in constant growth. However, the love of live words, which is considered by the philologist, make him capable to have a wide effect of the methodological tools, and in this way; unravel the secrets of the world of wisdom.

Also, today, philology and wisdom summon us to go along with this moment of the History of Salvation with the necessary instruments and ancient breeding by old and modern wisemen.

The reliability of the scale was assessed using the Chronbach alpha coefficient and the validity using the exploratory factorial analysis. Quantitative methodological research was used. Results: The results obtained agree with the values presented in previous studies regarding their internal consistency, both of the 17 items that make up the scale and of its three dimensions "force", "dedication" and "absorption".

The UWES in this study presents a factorial structure of three factors, just like the original study, but the constitution of the items of each dimension is different. The UWES scale presents good psychometric characteristics and good internal consistency. Conclusions: The UWES scale presents good psychometric characteristics and good internal consistency.

We conducted a series of Confirmatory Factor Analysis CFA tests of the factorial structure and the configural, metric, scalar, factor variance, factor covariance, and factor means invariances of the model across gender and age groups.

The validity of the Russian version of the UWES -9 was investigated by study- ing its relationship with burnout, job satisfaction, life satisfaction, and turnover inten- tion. The CFA showed that both the 1-factor and the 3-factor models of the UWES -9 fit well with the data, but the 3-factor model demonstrates a significantly better fit. Thus the Russian version of the UWES -9 can be used both as a three-scale mea- surement and as a single scale of work engagement.

Results from the multi-group CFA provided evidence of factorial invariance of the 3-factor model across gender and age groups. Internal consistencies of the vigor, dedication, and absorption subscales are acceptable. The results also suggested the convergent, discriminant, and incremental validity of the UWES -9, as shown by its relationship with burnout, job satisfaction, life satisfaction, and turnover intention. The article also discusses the differences in levels of work engagement within different gender and age groups.

Overall, the results show that the Russian version of the UWES -9 demonstrates acceptable psychometric properties comparable with the original version and those in other languages.

This study aims to estimate work engagement levels of rescue workers namely comparing nurses, firefighters, and police officers and to assess the validity evidence related to the internal structure of the Portuguese versions of the UWES and UWES -9, namely, dimensionality, measurement invariance between occupational groups, and reliability of the scores.

To evaluate the dimensionality, we compared the fit of the three-factor model with the fit of a second-order model. Work engagement levels were moderate to high, with firefighters being the highest and nurses being the lowest engaged.

Psychometric properties were evaluated in the three-factor original structure revealing acceptable fit to the data in the UWES , although the UWES -9 had better psychometric properties.

Given the observed statistically significant correlations between the three original factors, we proposed a 2nd hierarchal structure that we named work engagement. The UWES -9 first-order model obtained full uniqueness measurement invariance, and the second-order model obtained partial metric second-order invariance.

Given the observed statistically significant correlations between the three original factors, we proposed a 2 nd hierarchal structure that we named work engagement.

Theoretical underpinnings of the UWES -9 point toward a hierarchical structure with a general factor and three group or primary factors: Dedication, Vigor, and Absorption.

To date, researchers have failed to model the general factor, which contributes to the lack of consensus about the dimensionality of the scale. Bi-factor analysis was used to demonstrate the presence of a very strong general factor and, in comparison, two weak group factors. The results shed additional light on the meaning of the work engagement construct.

The implications for research with the UWES -9 are discussed. The aim of this paper is to present a revision of international versions of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and to describe the psychometric properties of a Portuguese version of the UWES -9 developed simultaneously for Brazil and Portugal, the validity evidence related with the internal structure, namely, Dimensionality, measurement invariance between Brazil and Portugal, and Reliability of the scores.

This is the first UWES version developed simultaneously for both countries, and it is an important instrument for understanding employees' work engagement in the organizations, allowing human resources departments to better use workforces, especially when they are migrants. A total of Brazilian workers and Portuguese workers participated in the study. Confirmatory Factor Analysis, group comparisons, and Reliability estimates were used. The use of workers who were primarily professionals or administrative support, according to ISCO, reinforced the need to collect data on other professional occupations.

Confirmatory factor analysis showed acceptable fit for the UWES -9 original three-factor solution, and a second-order factor structure has been proposed that presented an acceptable fit.

Full-scale invariance was obtained between the Portuguese and Brazilian samples, both for the original three-factor first-order and second-order models.

Data revealed that Portuguese and Brazilian workers didn't show statistically significant differences in the work engagement dimensions. This version allows for direct comparisons of means and, consequently, for performance of comparative and cross-cultural studies between these two countries.
